Grace Of God Is A Gift….Reach Out And Take It

“The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It’s for you I created the universe. I love you. There’s only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you’ll reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.” – Frederick Buechner

As we go through life and deal with our individual trials and tribulations and our successes and happy moments, it is important to keep in mind that “The party wouldn’t have been complete without you.” We belong here on this Earth; and we have the benefit of the unconditional love of our God and His graces in our life, right here, for us to accept as a gift. It is never forced upon us, rather, it is hanging there right next to us like grapes on a vine, which are sweet and nutritious, but will help us only if we reach out and pluck one and eat it.

Leave Yesterday’s Mistakes In The Past… And Bring The Lessons With You So That You Will Not Repeat Them

“They are the prudent who leave behind yesterday’s mistakes in complete self-forgiveness, but for the lessons they learned from them, and to then face each new dawn as if it were their very first.” – unattributed

I probably made some mistakes yesterday, and most likely will make more today. I may have said some things that would have been better off not being said, and done some things I wish I had done differently. Still tomorrow will come–and it is up to me how I choose to face the day ahead of me. The mistakes of yesterday are in the past, and with the right attitude and some effort, today will find us making fewer.

Why should Nigerian Christians not complain?

The German theologian, Prof. Motlman, rightly stated that “it is not the idealistic concept of none violence that is in consonant with the Gospel, but a responsible action of love’ . It is a misunderstanding of the Christian Gospel of nonviolence for a man to passively watch a rampaging lunatic break into his house and bludgeon his son to death and rape his wife. The Christian belief demands that such a man, driven by his love for his family, fight off the lunatic. So, while Christianity is not an incendiary creed, Christians must have the courage to take a responsible action of love, be it in defense of family, nation, justice or the Truth.

Pope Francis: There’s Something In The Name

•Pope-Francis-11-329x336

After he was elected pope on Wednesday, Jorge Mario Bergogli, former archbishop of Buenos Aires in Argentina, chose the name Francis. There may be nothing in a name, but the 76-year-old priest obviously wanted to be identified with another Francis who had lived on this planet some 800 years ago.

Yesterday, during his meeting with media people, he confirmed that he took his name from St. Francis of Assisi who, in mediaeval Europe, abandoned his father’s wealth to live a life of poverty and simplicity just like Jesus Christ himself.

Forgiveness: The Greatest Gift

zcfg

Humans are creatures with both exceptional qualities and faults. Until the first human appeared, no living creature carried such opposites within its nature.

At the same time as humans beat their wings in the firmaments of heaven, they can, with sudden deviation, become monsters that descend to the pits of Hell. It is futile to look for any relationship between these frightening descents and ascents; these are extremes because their cause and effect take place on very different planes.

To learn the lessons the Lord is trying to teach you, pray about them

You can go all through your life & miss so many of the things the Lord is trying to teach you! Some things are so obvious you don’t really have to ask the Lord. But many things aren’t so obvious, & you can miss the point if you don’t ask Him, or if you don’t open your eyes to it or if you don’t take it as from the Lord!

It’s so sad, because so many little things happen all the time that the Lord wants to use to teach you & to speak to you through, but if you don’t look at it as a message from the Lord, then it just passes, & you don’t get it, you don’t learn from it & it’s wasted! What could have been a lesson & what the Lord wants to be a lesson for you, may not be a lesson if you don’t take the time to ask the Lord, “What are You trying to show me?”

God will give you the solutions when you are alone with him

You will get a lot more done for the Lord if you will simply spend more time in prayer, alone with God. Unless you get quiet & try to seek the Lord, how are you ever going to get anything from the Lord? You will get more from the Lord alone & quiet than any other way.–Because He can talk to you alone, & you can give Him your full attention & the reverence due Him! Even Jesus had to get up at the break of day before His disciples, & walk out across the hills or up in the mountain to get alone with God & hear from His Father.
