“My life changed the day I moved beyond just wishing for things and I started earning them. That is the day I learned that we do not get what we wish for, we get what we work for.” ~ Steve Maraboli …
Sometimes we take wishing for things in life to a whole new level–we stop putting in the time and effort necessary for us to earn things and to make things happen, and instead simply carry with us baseless expectations that will never produce anything substantial in our lives. If we truly want things to be different, then we have to accept the fact that life requires us to use our energy and abilities to change our environment and behaviors. If we do not–if we continue to do the same things over and over–we will not change at all, and we will never obtain those things we are wishing for.
As Steve points out… the choice is really up to us. We decide how we act or neglect to act. If we find ourselves sitting idly by in life, we will also find ourselves feeling unfulfilled, wanting and needing something more in our lives. Yet if we make the decision to use our energies in ways that bring about real change and help us to fulfill our wants, we will feel whole. Changing the way we act and think is the only way that we can bring about change in our lives… wishing will bring nothing.
We all are blessed with many unique talents and abilities, and we all have been given 86,400 seconds each day of our lives to live to the best of our abilities. That is a lot of time, and a lot of talent, and a lot of energy. What do I do with my time here on Earth? Do I use it to the fullest potential, or do I waste it in the many fruitless and unproductive habits that we often times get stuck in such as expecting unwarranted things or wishing for effortless change?
Direct your energy and effort towards things you want.
Questions to consider:
Why do many of us spend so much of our time wishing for things to be different?
What are some unfulfilled wants and desires you have? Will your current use of of your time, energy, and abilities bring about fulfillment of these?
What are some effective ways in which you can bring about your desired change right now?

“Dreaming has its place; inspiration is invaluable; but life is action as well as thought. They get farthest in the realm of character-building who link up thought and action, who do not merely dream, but act upon their noblest imaginings.” ~ R.W. Wilde
