Often Confused Word…

“Love is not something you look for… love is something you become!” ~ Alina Villasante …

Love can be a confusing thing. As a child, many of us were taught that love is something we must look for, something we must seek from without. But that is not love. Love comes from within us; it is something we create. Love is something that no one can take away from us once we have it, at least without our permission.

Many individuals who are lonely, hurting, sad, and do not have peace within their hearts, are seeking love outside of themselves. They are searching for it in spouse, sex, money, drugs, violence, immorality–the list goes on and on. Sadly, this typically pushes love further away from our focus and leaves us feeling unhappy and less fulfilled, less whole. It is sad to see those we love get caught up in the vicious cycle of searching for love in all the wrong places. In addition, hiding away the love we have inside is a waste of our potential. Think of all the people depending on others for love, guidance, affirmation, and support. When we refuse to become love, we let those individuals down.

There is no love without love from within. Find it, embrace it, become it. The world needs your contributions today.

As you interact with others… focus on the genuine love you hold within.

Questions to consider:

What is love to you? Does love add to, or take away from, the peace in the wells of your soul?

In what ways do you become love in your life? In the lives of those around you?

How can you contribute towards the sum of the love that exists in the world? What might be the results?

For further thought:

“Someday, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tide and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, humans will have discovered fire.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
