Commit Yourself To Learning

“Most people are just trying to get through the day. Be committed to learn to get from the day. Don’t just get through it; get from it. Learn from it. Let the day teach you. Join the university of life. What a difference that will make in your future. Commit yourself to learning. Commit yourself to absorbing. Be like a sponge. Get it. Don’t miss it.” ~Jim Rohn …

Every day brings with it another opportunity to increase our knowledge and grow as a person. Sure there will be days in which we are extremely busy or even overwhelmed, but that does not mean that we have to rush through the day simply to put it behind us. In fact, there is no assurance for tomorrow; so wasting even a single day is something we could come to regret.

What do you want to excel in? Where do you want to be in the near future? How are you going about getting there? Education is one of the most important continuing things we can do throughout our lives. And not simply soaking up information, as information has very little use for us in the scheme of life. But truly learning and growing–discovering ourselves on a deeper level, spending time with those we love, being there for others when they are going through difficulties in their life, giving of our time, talent, and love to our brothers and sisters in life.

The things we accomplish, the growth we experience, and the time, love, and compassion that we share with others are the things that will last. That is what life is all about–moving forward, growing, building relationships, finding purpose, and making life that much more pleasant for everyone here. When we commit ourselves to learning from the day, and not just getting through it, we create our future and ensure that we never miss an opportunity that life presents to us.

Commit yourself to learning throughout the day.

Questions to consider:

Who decides when we learn during the course of our lifetimes? Who decides what we learn?

When do we gain wisdom? Are we open to it even when we are busy or feeling overwhelmed?

What are some changes you can make in your life to “get more from each day?”

For further thought:

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.” ~Bertrand Russell
