Offer Positivity

“My greatest accomplishments shall never be known, perhaps even to me. Having made someone smile and see the world a bit brighter, having given someone hope for the future, having helped someone see potential inside him or her self that he or she never might have seen otherwise, having helped someone to see just how beautiful he or she really is–these to me are the achievements that most can help this world to be a brighter, more loving place.” – Tom Walsh

What have you accomplished today? What are you going to accomplish with the rest of the day? There are many, many things that we can do that can add to the positive energy of this world, if only we keep our focus on adding to the positive. We may brighten one tiny corner of the world for just a few minutes at a time, but isn’t that enough? Shouldn’t our goal be to contribute to the positive in the world rather than the negative? Power Of Potential

“If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.” – Thomas Alva Edison

Holding the record of 1093 patents for inventions in his lifetime, Thomas was quite an astounding man. He invented the phonograph, improved upon the light bulb making it practical for home use, made many advancements in electricity, patented work in motion picture recording, and so much more. I would think that he knows just what he is talking about when it comes to astounding oneself. So the question I ask myself then becomes, “How can I do all the things I am capable of?” Continue reading

Our Attitude

“Though I might travel afar, I will meet only what I carry with me, for every man and woman is a mirror. We see only ourselves reflected in those around us. Their attitudes and actions are only a reflection of our own. The whole world and its condition has its counter parts within us all. Turn the gaze inward. Correct yourself and your world will change.” – Kirsten Zambucka

There is much talk these days about the laws of attraction–we attract to our lives reflections of who we are and what our attitudes are. And this talk is based in fact, in continuous observation, and in study. We really do attract to ourselves exactly what we give, and as you change the face that you present to the world, you will find that the world presents a completely different face to you. Accomplishment

“Will you be satisfied with the fruit of your life’s work? Will the efforts you are making now bring you satisfaction when the things of time are receding, and eternity looms ahead?” – Raymond L. Cox

I’m not at all a morbid person, but I often think of how I would feel if I were to die tomorrow, or this afternoon. Am I truly ready to go, even though I am still relatively young? Would I feel a sense of equanimity and satisfaction, knowing that I’ve done all that I can with my life, or would I feel a sense of dread, thinking about the many things that I haven’t yet done? Peace Of Mind

“Other people do not have to change for us to experience peace of mind.” – Gerald Jampolsky

How nice it would be if other people would change to fit our images of what they should be like. If I could cause this to happen, no one would ride my bumper any more, no one would be rude to me or other people, everyone would respect each other, and we would see no more crime or abuse in the world. I have a feeling that this is not going to happen any time soon. Continue reading

Master Thyself

“Many people have the ambition to succeed; they may even have a special aptitude for their job. And yet they do not move ahead. Why? Perhaps they think that since they can master the job, there is no need to master themselves.” – John Stevenson

What an interesting concept: “to master themselves.” It sounds in a way somewhat rigid, somewhat controlling. On the other hand, it also sounds quite necessary if we’re ever going to work our way past some of the obstacles that we face in life. If I want to excel at the work I do, learning how to do the work is only half of the battle. Learning how to work effectively so that I can do a great job is another big part of the process. Give Thanks

“Today, let’s give thanks for life. For life itself. For simply being born!” – Daphne Rose Kingma

Since I have already been blessed with the gift of life, by the mere fact of my being alive and conscious right now, it is generally something I take for granted. Yet if I take the time to think about this fact, how can I not rejoice in “simply being born?” Sure life has its ups and downs, and at times it is filled with troubles and difficulties that seem insurmountable, but in this truth lies the answer–life gives me the opportunity to live in this world full of amazing people, sights, sounds, creatures, and things to do, and for this chance I have been given, I have every reason to be thankful.
